Thématique de recherche : Etude du cortège endosymbiotique chez les acariens hématophages.
Ce projet porte sur l’analyse du compartiment endosymbiotique des acariens hématophages par la recherche et l’identification des bactéries impliquées, la mesure de leur prévalence et co-occurrence dans les populations ainsi que la recherche des conséquences de ces symbiotes sur la biologie et la capacité vectorielle des acariens. Il devrait permettre de mieux caractériser la nature de l’association mise en jeu, notamment les effets de ces bactéries endosymbiotiques sur la biologie de la reproduction de leurs hôtes, leur localisation et co-localisation, leur mode de transmission ainsi que la nature des interactions qui s’établissent entre micro-organismes à l’intérieur de l’arthropode. Ce projet, dans un contexte de réchauffement climatique et d’expansion de maladies vectorielles, pourrait aboutir, à des avancées de la connaissance dans ce domaine, à une meilleure compréhension du rôle des bactéries symbiotiques chez les acariens vecteurs et de nouvelles méthodes de lutte contre ces acariens ou de lutte contre sur la transmission de pathogènes vectorisés par ces acariens.
